Here are the steps to your HSTRY product...due March 30
- Choose a hashtag to research. Tell me. Once a # is chosen by a classmate, it is off the table!
- Gather your research.
- Create a profile at HSTRY.co and enter 20074 to join our class. If you are working in partners, please create only one profile and timeline.
- Have a look at the 2 sample timelines that I copied from the HSTRY site. One is better constructed than the other - can you tell which?
- Create a title and write a 2-3 sentence introduction for your #. Add banner and cover images too.
- Enter your research chronologically, including all of the different types of media you can imbed: text, video and image (both with descriptions), "Did you know?" and at least one quiz question (audio file is optional). Click the big blue + sign in the middle of the timeline to add a new box, or use the garbage bins to delete the boxes that are already in the timeline. You should have 7-10 entries on your timeline.
- Write a 1-2 sentence conclusion that shares your idea of WHY we should care about this social movement.
- When you have reread to revise and edit, click submit so that the rest of us can see your HSTRY timeline.
Now to the blog...due April 1
Read the article about hashtag activism that was in my Blendspace and respond with your opinion. You must refer to at least THREE of the campaigns researched by the class at HSTRY.co, besides your own. Try to embed images and links, as well as use bolded words, italics and underlining to communicate impact and emotion.

Do you need to...
- Catch up on missing blogs before you start this task?
- Add your name as a tag to the blogs that you've posted so that I can give you credit for them?
- Post your previous blog entries so that they are no longer labeled 'draft' and can be read - and commented on - by classmates?
Another interesting read: http://www.tintup.com/blog/hashtag-activism-revolution-tweeted/. I had considered assigning the embedded Malcolm Gladwell article - totally worth a few minutes of your time - but that pesky Spring Break got in the way :)
