HACKING YOUR PHONE
Monday, while I was crying because I couldn’t find anything interesting
to write this blog about, I was watching 60 MINUTES. This is a TV program that
talks about different topics every day and sometimes is actually very
interesting.
Since I’m the luckiest girl in the world , the topic was
HACKING YOUR PHONE!
Well in the beginning, I was so excited but after literally one
minute I was thinking about grabbing an hammer and destroy my phone…
So the reporter went to Berlin in Germany, that apparently
is the homeland of Hackers, and talked with a guy that just got a degree of
computer engineering and became an Hacker. He explained that his job is to
find the vulnerabilities of phones “before
the bad guy does”.
The interesting part was that they proved and showed what
they can do with just your phone number….are you ready? They can:
1. 1. Where you go/work
2. 2. Who you meet
3. 3. Who you call/text
4. 4. Listen to what you say/write (both sides of the
conversation!)
And JUST SENDING YOU A TEXT MESSAGE WITH AN ATTACHMENT, they
have access to your CAMERA and they can literally SPY you ! And if you just try
to open the attachment they can TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR PHONE.
They also show how just creating a fake wifi, as soon as you
connect to it they get directly your email and after a few second, all the apps
and information inside them on your phone (account ID, password, mobile phone
number) and mainly all the CREDIT CARDS associated with that mobile phone.
That is ssssooo frighteniiiing, like how many time did you
just connect to a Wi-Fi because it was free?!?!?!
After this creepy af
examples, they interviewed some hackers that work in a company called LOOKOUT.
They created a FREE app that scans your phone and tells you if you have been hacked, and if you are getting hacked you get a notification!
(DOWNLOAD IT RIGHT NNOOWWW!)
However, they say that they are trying to do everything they
can to create safer phone networks, but what came out is that the problem is
the human nature, you can’t fix the human factor. The problem is that people
don’t think of their phones as computers…
I think this program was very effective because they
actually showed how UNSAFE is our technology, how everyone can be hacked and
they spoke with real hackers, but the good ones J
