ORDER IN COURT, THIS IS A MATTER OF A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY

TOPIC OF THE DAY: PHOTOSHOP

ORDER IN COURT. (DISCLAIMER: LOTS OF EVIDENCE)
Today, we have the accused, Photoshop, who has been creating crimes against humanity. Along with their accomplices, magazines and big brands, they have caused an epidemic of a loss of self confidence for young women everywhere.

Of course, Photoshop has also influenced men, but with the target of these magazines being young women, I think we can all agree on the unrealistic body standards that Photoshop has contributed to.

Let's look at some evidence of what the accused has done.

EXHIBIT A)
 EXHIBIT B)
 EXHIBIT C)

The next piece of evidence will be a conversation between two young girls after seeing a celebrities' new photo for a magazine cover.

EXHIBIT D)

And if this isn't enough evidence for you, let me bring out the biggest piece of support for our position. A video went viral online of the reverse process of the photoshop of a swimsuit model.

EXHIBIT E)

The video starts and you see a beautiful blonde model sporting a red bikini.

Toned stomach, small arms, large lips and long legs. These have become the standards for our society, these ideas being forced into our brains on a daily basis.

But as the video goes on, you see that she actually started out very differently.

At this point, jury, it is easy to believe that the photoshop is over and she was just a larger woman to begin with, the end.

NO.

 Lol what

So...YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT THE MODEL WAS REALLY A PIECE OF PIZZA?

??????

Okay, jury and your Honour, now we get to my argument. From this long string of evidence, we can see that photoshop has taken beauty and our body standards way too far! Who even created a "body standard"? Why can't we just all accept each other and ourselves for the way we are?

Through this video, you can see that this application of Photoshop, the accused, can take virtually ANYTHING and create it into a stunning model, so how can we expect that these photos of people are anywhere close to real?

We can't.

From this video, it is saying and showing the court how the internet and these magazines cannot be trusted. For all we know, when we think we are looking at Gigi Hadid, we are actually looking at a celery stick.

By going backwards and showing us the true process of photoshop, we are able to see just how much this application can do. Since young girls are expecting so much out of themselves based on these photos they see, the video is basically telling them that it's all FAKE.

FINALLY!

Instead of them telling us to look a certain way, which has become the norm for society to subtly throw at us whenever they can, they are showing us that these photos cannot get more fake.

And, unfortunately, so many girls (especially the younger ones) will grow up believing that the women in these magazines look exactly the same in real life. By the time they realize that that isn't true, it will already be imprinted in their minds with their views on body image.

I warn you for this image may bring tears and/or extreme sadness because so many girls will grow up feeling this way when they look in the mirror.

And yeah, I can try to bring humour into this and try to be relatable, but at the end of the day, this isn't a humourous topic.

No girl should grow up thinking she isn't beautiful.

No man should grow up thinking he isn't worth it.

Nobody should grow up thinking that they need to be more than who they are.

And society has gotten so messed up, right to the point where we use the number on a scale as validation that we are a good person.

This video shows just how fake the media can be, the one that is obsessed with image and how big your hips are. The number on a scale isn't what defines you, which should be preached daily.

For any girl who has ever felt this way, spread this message to your friends, your sister, your mom, your daughter and yourself.

I'm sorry, your Honour, for I have gotten very invested in the topic. But the accused has taken advantage of the minds of our society, along with their accomplices, and it is about time that they are stopped.

I think it is quite obvious through the evidence presented that what Photoshop has and continues to put young women through is a crime.

The video shows that we cannot believe what we are seeing and really is apart of a campaign that has been going on for as long as I can remember. The campaign of true acceptance. To every argument, there are two sides and this video has clearly chosen a specific one. If a pizza can be turned into a beautiful woman, then are you really telling me that Beyonce or Selena Gomez actually looks like that in real life?

I think that after watching the video or from seeing the evidence above, we all had this reaction.

And from this, your Honour, I rest my case.
