#Hashtagabuse

Imagine everything coming outta his mouth on an instagram post... Yes i know, insane but some people's instagram posts really do have what i call hashtag porn.

(Holy crap i wanna scream when people talk with hashtags cdjnsdbhdsnkjadn pls stop)

Be honest here guys, how many of us have seen or heard about a hashtag and had just a vague idea what people were talking about, you know based upon rumors and word of mouth...YET still used it to show your "support". Just to stay in the social loop.

I am definitely guilty of doing that...

For example, #prayforparis was started after the bomb attacks that happened in paris. Within an hour Facebook had provided users with the option to change their profile picture to show their support.

unfortunately i got sucked into this social trend and changed my picture too But cmon honestly was i really making an effort to "support". Now that i think about it, this wasn't a form of active activistm instead it is something most would call #SLACKTIVISM.

I sorta got the same vibes from the #ALSICEBUCKETCHALLENGE which was all the rage the summer of 2015. TBH i bet we were all secretly wanting to be nominated just to be a part of the trend. But how many of us took the time to research what ALS actually was? Who did it affect?

THE WORST WAS WHEN PEOPLE DID THE CHALLENGE...BUT THEN DIDNT EVEN DONATE!...  I cannot comprehend how someone could do that yet they have the audacity to brag bout supporting a charity. YEAH K BYE

You know what people call this.. mhmm i hear you thinking it GIMMIE AN S, GIMMIE A L (u get the point) #SLACKTAVISM AT ITS BEST.

(Exactly my thoughts Ron, i feel yea man)

Now on to mehly well known #jesuischarlie. Lemma be honest here I had no idea what this was even about till i researched it now, but apparently it was a huge trending hashtag January of 2015. Je Suis Charlie, french for "I am Charlie" is a slogan and a logo created by French artist Joachim Roncin and used by supporters of freedom of speech and resistance to armed threats. It trended on twitter after the 7 January 2015 shooting. The shooting resulted in twelve people  killed at the offices of the French newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

I feel like this hashtag could be interpreted in many ways depending on your view but if you truly felt connected to the issue, did you think just tweeting the hashtag was gonna get the problem solved?

The more people just sit behind a screen and tap away, the less real life supporters are gonna start taking action. The world as a community has all these goals and dreams to end terrorism, poverty, starvation, racism and to cure diseases  but without our man/woman power nothing is gonna happen.

These hashtags dont ask for active activism BUT CMONNN THE WORD ACTIVE IS LITERALLY IN ACTIVISM, DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR LIVES PEOPLE.

We possess so so much potential within ourselves, but instead we waste it behind a piece of crap (honestly i do love my phone tho) and on social media. Without even realizing it we are becoming disconnected through these hashtags which ironically were made to connect the world on various social awareness issues.

Hashtags do truly have power to unite and spread word worldwide about an issue, or as this Article  phrases it "the peaceful power of a hashtag". butttt.... Do you really believe that typing a hashtag is gonna create a difference? Yes, it may raise awareness but getting off our lazy asses and actually attending a rally, organizing fundraisers and being physically present at that moment...

That's when you can talk about showing your support.

SOO..
