News Flash

First of all, I’ll put it out there that I wasn’t scared at all by the lock down.  I know the majority of people were, but for some reason it didn’t seem to phase me at all.

BUT  I do have an opinion about one thing.

(Not trying to offend anyone here guys – I more than bet some of your parents did this – this is just my personal opinion.  Disagree as you will.)

What parent in their right mind thinks that showing up to a school that’s in lock down is a good idea!!????

 

Seriously!!!!!!!

We are in a  l o c k  d o w n.  

Translation: This is not a safe place to be!! 

We are locked INSIDE our classrooms because there is a threat somewhere OUTSIDE the school.  We are SAFE in the classrooms. 

WHY DO PARENTS COME TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL WHERE THE THREAT IS????

This not only puts them in danger, but it makes the job of the police officers a BAJILLION times more difficult!  They now have so many more people to deal with and worry about protecting.  And of course these parents don’t just sit there quietly minding their own business, most of them run around like little chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out what’s going on, creating chaos and confusion everywhere. 

THIS INCREASES THE THREAT ON EVERYONE!!!!

If the police officers are preoccupied with swarms of parents outside the school, trying to deal with them and make sure they’re safe as well, they get taken away from finding the actual threat.  This not only puts the parents in greater danger, it puts us (the people hiding under our desks) in greater danger too!  The less focus and effort being put into locating the threat, the greater the chances are of the threat getting into the school, or finding the swarm of parents and attacking them.

Now, I know people will say, “Oh, it’s just because they care about you”, “They’re just worried”, “They want to make sure you’re safe”.

Well, I am here to tell you – if you can fathom it – that by them coming to the school, they are putting you in MORE danger!

  

Okay, so now that my little rant is over (I tamed this waaay down for you guys), I want to just say that I know parents do this from a genuine place in their hearts, which could I guess be seen as almost a sweet gesture.  But the reality is that their showing up makes the whole situation much worse, way more difficult to handle, and it puts everyone in much more danger.  Which, in my opinion, is a very stupid thing to do.  I’m not saying, by any means, that all your parents are stupid; I’m just saying that the decision they made to come to the school  during a lock down  is incredibly stupid.

(To be fair, it's not as stupid as the decision made by the person choosing to attack a school)
