“The thing is
you need to build an ability to just be yourself and not be doing something,
that’s what the phones are taking away - is the ability to just sit there. That's being a person, right?” – Louis

Louis C.K.
talked about Twitter and people on their phones with Conan on this talk show.
He uses his sense of humour to convey this idea that was probably the most talked about topic in the blogs - the overuse of social media. The examples he gives and his tone are hilarious and mocking, definitely making the message more enjoyable. Also, for me, what he said resonated in my head after the show and made me think about what he said.
PHONES DO TAKE AWAY THE ABILITY TO BE DOING NOTHING!!!
Because we can text instead of facing the loneliness or the boredom
He says how even when there are acrobats doing acrobatty amazing things and there are explosions in the sky, people would be looking at it through their THREE INCH SCREENS.
Then he continues on by giving an example of what would happen when Jesus comes back. Everyone would be on their phones tweeting and reporting what's happening to Twitter.
"Omg, Jesus is right in front of me"
"I have a twit pic of Jesus. OMG IT'S TRENDING, Jesus is trending right now!"
And that is the most probable people's response to any kind of amusing event these days. We share everything to social media, as if it is our duty to let everyone know what is happening in our lives.
To be on social media, we may miss important events, such as um Jesus in the example he gives.
Mmm...and there are some privacy stuff on the internet that we cannot control :'( as we talked about in our other blog...but we share a lot of information by twitting and posting too! Even if we might not know it, we are sharing info such as the restaurants we go to (can be deduced from all the food pictures we post = invading our own privacy.)
This cartoon shows a naked person in front of many social media and websites.
The eyes on each website names and symbols indicate how they are observing you through the information and how they are always secretly looking for more information to sell.
The cartoon is very relatable because Facebook is always asking for my address, number, and has a function in which your friends can ask for your information to be put up public O.o Nice try, Facebook -.-

| My friend asks for fun all the time :P WHICH IS WHAT FACEBOOK WANTED PEOPLE TO DO HA! |
It is worth noting how the person is not wearing any clothes too. It shows how we cannot hide ourselves from all the medias. Imagine how scary it would be if the websites which you shared all your information to all joined together and turned against you O.O

| The first thing I see when I go to my timeline-.- |
Like Louis CK's opinion, I don't think we should be constantly updating our lives to everyone else through social media and the internet -.- First of all, you can be missing incredible things that are happening right in front of your eyes and, and we can't even just sit and do nothing anymore... Also you're giving away more information to where "privacy" does not exist - the internet.
