What is the first thing you do before eating?
1.pick up the fork
2.pull out the camera or open the camera on the phone and then share on the social media.
If you choose 2, congratulation!!You are a FOOD FETISH (or FOOD PAPARAZZI) as me!!!!๐
This is a really small part of my "FOOD" folder๐
It's reached a point for us where we can't fight that "must take photo" urge before digging into a meal.
HOWEVER, I WAS THUMPED YESTERDAY BECAUSE I READ AN ARTICLE :Expert said that photographing food may be sign of mental illness.
OK.FINE.๐ฟ
Dr. Valerie Taylor argued on a presentation that "For some people who have the predisposition for weight behaviours" food photography and social media activity can anticipate "unhealthy weight disorders.”She thinks that people take pictures of things that are important to themselves.People who take pictures of food care about the restaurant more than the people they are there with. And also, she used several experts opinions to prove her idea.
I think that was too exaggerated.
I acknowledge that yes, sometimes taking photos before eating is a really annoying behavior. But at least for me, I only do that in front my (food fetish) friends or my parents. If I eat with people that I am not familiar with, I definitely do not do this.
The diet culture is very important to Chinese, which contains the essence of five thousand years of history China. But modern people love to take pictures of food, it is along with the time evolution, the formation of the diet culture, the ancients also often talked about food written in poetry. The only different is that they did not have camera and they had no place to share their food.
And also I know there are some people who take light in posting foods to social media.I saw another expert said that people post something on the social media means that they lack of this thing.Does that mean if people post food on the social media is equal to lack of food??
Chinese think that food is the first thing for people. As me, because my mom is a dietician and she really good at cooking, I am affected by her.I like to take photos before eating. This is my way of recording life. And why social media? Because Social media are good places to share life.
So I think, are those experts too extreme???
And in short, I think that taking pictures before eating is not a wrong thing, but please only do that when you are eating with familiar people.Control the degree of photographing food, it would be a cool thing in your life.
