Reading this article in English has made me realize how much time I waste on my phone over the two days I procrastinated. And I say "waste" for a reason.
I am not sure if many of you are aware of the fact that you can check how much battery/time you use on your apps (for iPhones, don't know about other phones!)
Setting > Battery > Clock
When I first heard about PIU, the first thing that came up in my mind was this. Now with our smartphones, we have the access to the internet at our fingertips. I remember when Apple first introduced this function, I was very surprised to find out about an app(?) that was in my top 5 most used.
Home & Lock Screen
You might just think, "Oh wow, I must love spending time on my home & lock screen!"
But for me, it was a huge realization. I must check my phone for no reason all the time.
I think the reason why home & lock screen is in my top 5 is that I go on my phone even when I have no real purpose for it. I just browse my home and lock screen to find something to do, which is basically wasting time. It is kind of embarrassing, and I hope I just left my phone on and forgot to turn it off...but I was on my home screen for 7 hours just this week.
I very recently (like yesterday) came across this app called "Focustimer"
Basically the timer goes off when you put your phone face down until you lift your phone.
I put my phone down, the timer started, I was studying for chemistry, I forgot about the timer...then I lifted my phone. Then the timer stopped and an unfamiliar screen came up, and I was like
until I remembered what the time stood for. The thing though is that I didn't even have a reason for turning on my phone.
So yeah, um, apparently I check my phone every 7 minutes for no reason.
I feel like I start my day with the internet when checking the weather, and end my day with my phone when I set up my alarm.
How do you guys' days go?
Are you guys all safe from PIU?
