Is the Internet a trustworthy source of information? Is it as reliable as print?
Is the internet a trustworthy source of information? Is it as reliable as print? Why is print more reliable? Because usually there will be fact checkers and editors that make sure the information that is printed is valid, this helps make the information that you read on newspapers be more a more accurate representation of events that happen in real life. But keep in mind that that may not be a clear cut way of determining the trustworthiness of an article, even with editors and fact checkers, valuable information can be cut out due to company bias or misinterpretation of facts. This may happen on the internet as well, you see an article on a respected news site that was edited, revised, and fact checked just as well as any print source could be and it could have some errors in it that give false information. So is the internet unreliable? Not particularly, on community websites like yahoo answers and such, you can easily give out false information and pass it off as real if you sound convincing enough. In the end, internet sources can be just as reliable as print sources, but because of the sheer amount of online sources at your disposal, you're very likely to find something unreliable on the internet than you would with print media.
