Is the Internet dumbing us down and making us lazier? Or is it empowering the masses by giving access to more information?

    When I was young, the teachers required that everybody needed to have a dictionary, if we don't know how to write a character, we looked up in the dictionaries.I can still remember my first dictionary was very old and some pages lost because I used it everyday.But one day it has changed.We don’t need to carry those massive dictionaries any more, there are millions different kinds of dictionaries in our phones.And they are all up to date.In addition, most of them are free!They are easy to download and update as well.Not only dictionary, in the past, if we wanted to search something, we needed to go to library to leaf through any possible book that might related to our topics.But as Internet developing, we seldom use books to acquire information.We only need to type what we are looking for into the search box, thousands of results will come out in less than 1 second.As a matter of fact, Internet does dumb people and make people lazier.People gradually reduce the time that go to libraries when they get used to Internet.We rely on the Internet, sometimes we don’t even think deeply because we know that the Internet will give us answers.

Another example is online shopping.In the past, if people wanted to do shopping, they had to go out.And also, some time we need something unfrequent, we may go over almost the whole city.Since online shopping became more and more popular, people preferred shopping in front of the computers.For instance, in China, there is a big online shopping website called Taobao which began to be popular several years before.First, I just bought some stationery on that website.When I got the parcel, I found they were prettier and cheaper than stores.And gradually, if I need to buy something but not urgent need, I will buy on Taobao.And it has became more and more convenience, people can buy almost everything on that,such as clothes, articles of daily use, food and the like.In this respect, Internet actually makes people idle, because we can keep indoors but do most things on the internet:online bank, e-books and so on.

But we can’t deny that Internet does change our life and make life easier.For instance, newspapers is not as necessary as before because we can learn about news on news website.This world is changing rapidly, the news which gives by the newspaper can not catch up with the world.The Internet does make people lazy, but it also empower the masses by giving access to more information.Internet improves our efficiency, we don’t need to go out means that we can save our times on the road and use this time to do more meaningful things.With the help of the convenience of Internet, we can get more information and learn more than before.
