Commonly, when one speaks about the internet, another compares it to print. The internet and print are both very common medians used for sharing knowledge. An aspect of both these medians than are often used when comparing the two is its reliability. When judging the reliability of both the internet and print, one can agree that in general, print may be more reliable than the internet but even so, there is no reason to generalize all aspects of the both because with the two, there is always cases where the opposite occurs. A benefit that the internet has but print does not, is that with the internet things can be edited, changed and updated if research etc proves it wrong. With print, once it's there, it is there. For someone to get a more updated copy they must go back and reprint and repurchase. Another advantage that the internet has is that it is cheaper and more accessible. With the internet, it is generally free or commonly accessible and not limited. With print, there are limitations printing, access, and cost. On the other hand, a huge advantage that is less common with the internet is that generally print is revised, re-edited and looked at by more that one person before printing. The internet is constantly being updated for example someone may tweet and not have a second look at what they are saying. In the end, even so that print may be more reliable compared to the internet, both have issues with reliability and it is up to us to really look at it and understand and comprehend. We can judge the reliability by using common sense. We can ask ourselves if we are looking at print, When was this printed? Who printed it? Was there more research? etc. When looking at the internet, we can ask ourselves, Is this person or website a reliable source? Has this been looked at by others? etc. Now it's up to you to decide, print or the internet or maybe even both.
